Shivaji Nagar Rehabilitation and Resettlement colony is a displaced community of project affect people from South Mumbai. Forced to displace in a neighborhood adjacent to the abattoir and dumping ground, the colony houses more than 6000 residents with 1sq.m open space area per person. MESN initiated a placemaking drive-through community engagement, strengthening federation and society and development and maintenance of public spaces.

MESN envisioned a public space in M- East ward of Mumbai, in an informal settlement located adjacent to Asia’s largest dumping ground. Through rigourous participation mechanisms and stakeholder management, MESN was able to deliver this visionary public space project.
