As part of the 2019 Fall design studio, we collaborated with Beyond Care to study co-operative housing structures in Sunset Park. Part one of the studios required extensive participatory research on cooperative housing history in New York.

Process
We researched the history of cooperatives and public policies since the 1930s to create a guidebook. The research included multiple field visits to Sunset park, interviewing Finnish co-op residents, and talking to nonprofits working on mission-driven cooperative structures of housing.
