goal

An ongoing study on the local material, environment, socio-cultural sensitivities & economic activities, the climate of Davengere district. Being divided into dry and wet regions, the Davengere housing study gives an

insight into the shifting lifestyle region wise and its effects on the housing needs. The current solutions being practiced in the region lack sound construction detailing and cost effectiveness.

Process

In a similar study in the district of Chitradurga, we found out more about Lime as a building material 

The studies also let us document lime making processes in the region. Like being an excellent binding agent, it reduces the use of cement by 80% in the construction.

IMpaCT

The design recommendations in the GRIHA Report proposed sustainable solutions to be implemented under the free rural hosuing scheme.
